Do students feel this way, moving into an apartment building and being surrounded by alumni? Going to different schools and living in different areas has become the default rule for everyone. Today, Mei Wo will take you all-round analysis, why do your alumni live here? (*Includes exclusive rental data analysis of Mei Wo)

-01-

NYU

According to the 2021 Meiwo rental data, the three favorite areas of NYU students are Jersey City, Long Island City and Midtown, Isle of Man. Jersey City topped the list with 31.9%. The biggest advantage of living in New Jersey is that it is very affordable. It only takes about 20 minutes to take the PATH to the main campus. The point is that it is much cleaner than the subway! But living in Jersey City, I can't feel the prosperity of New York. In addition to PATH, you can only drive by car, so it is also a gospel place for many people with cars.

30% of NYU students choose to live in LIC. LIC is located in the middle of Flushing and the Isle of Man, and the transportation convenience is perfect. Both the R and M lines of the subway can go directly to the NYU main campus. Flushing is less than 30 minutes away. Contrary to Jersey City, LIC buildings have a lot of "offices". If you don't have a certain degree of self-control, it will affect the degree of learning efficiency. Although these two areas already have more than half of the alumni living. Still, 17.3% of students chose to live in Midtown, next to the school. If I have to say the disadvantage of Midtown, it is that its housing price can never be equated with cost performance.

The New School

The same coordinates are at The New School in Midtown Isle of Man. 37.1% of students chose Midtown Isle of Man. The reason is very simple. All kinds of art material stores in New York are concentrated here, and on weekends, they frequently come to and from the studio. Midtown is the best choice for art students. 31.7% of students chose to live in Jersey City. It is a more cost-effective option for those who do not need to commute to and from school frequently. This is also a paradise for art students. The consumption tax is much lower than that of New York. Shopping for clothes and shoes is completely tax-free in NJ.

However, PATH has fewer weekend shifts, and the route occasionally changes, which is not very friendly to students who go to school to catch a project on weekends. There are also many New School students who choose to live in LIC. It takes less than 30 minutes to get to the school by subway. The most attractive thing is that there are various types of building friends here. From dinner appointments, to playing football to script killing. It is worth noting that many new buildings are under construction at the same time, which will be very troublesome for those who pursue high-quality sleep.

-03-

SVA

Another major New York art school representing the SVA. 35.63% of students choose to live in LIC. As the SVA base camp, you will find that your classmates are neighbors. We usually go to school together, have dinner together, and have no worries about making friends at all. Metro Line M can go directly to the West Campus. Due to the need to carry materials and stay in the studio for a long time, 28.7% of SVA students chose to live in Midtown. People are more willing to give their money to the building than to spend it on transportation.

There are many students who choose to live in Jersey City. Unlike New York, NJ does not require a guarantee fee. This directly saves one month's rent and skips the tedious guarantee process. Of course, as a "senior" community, the nightlife here naturally cannot be compared with the Isle of Man and LIC.
